For a dancer, nothing is more precious than a healthy, injury-free body - this is crucial for an artist to flourish.
Prudence Wilson - Accredited Exercise Physiologist
Prudence began dancing at the age of three. Over the years she participated in many different styles of dance and is still dancing today!
Prudence learnt RAD ballet, and completed her exams up to Advanced 2. She also completed her Dance Teacher's Diploma for BDA tap and jazz. At the age of 18, Prudence moved overseas to pursue a career as a dancer. She has danced on international cruise ships, in movies and film clips, was a cheerleader of an IPL Cricket team and performed in live shows in Australia.
Her interest in human movement and anatomy eventually led her to Sydney University where she completed a Bachelor of Exercise Physiology. Prudence also completed a Masters of Human Nutrition.
Prudence has completed specific training to conduct dance and pre-pointe assessments and has experience in prescribing dance specific conditioning programs. Additionally, she has been a Pilates instructor since 2014 and has experience in the use of Real Time Ultrasound for core stability training.
Prudence is able to combine her knowledge and skills she has as a dancer, dance teacher and exercise physiologist to successfully assess and treat dancers at Southside Physiotherapy.
Prudence understands that for a dancer, there is no such thing as "rest".
Dance and pre-pointe assessments can help to identify any weaknesses and potential risk of injury. Prudence can then prescribe specific exercises to help overcome these weaknesses, reducing risk of injury and optimising your performance.
You can make extraordinary changes to your body and accelerate your dance performance with specific conditioning. Prudence can help you to achieve this!
